Diet & Nutrition: Diet and nutritional supplements are powerful tools in changing brain chemistry. Some foods, like whole grains, squash and root vegetables can boost serotonin. And, we all know the impact coffee can have to immediately boost dopamine and increase alertness. What you'll learn with your personalized brain chemistry profile is which foods and nutritional supplements are best for your brain chemistry, not what works for someone else. For some of us, one cup of coffee daily is fine, for others it can create further imbalances in brain chemistry.
This is important because even when we eat nutritious foods, the time of day needs to be considered. For instance, one of the healthiest high-protein, dopamine and nor epinephrine boosters in the food supply is fish, simply because it is loaded with protein but low in fat. Fish with green vegetables, and salad can be a “power lunch” – and depends on your goals and your lifestyle. Exercise & Movement: Although everyone knows exercise is good for you, many people still don't exercise. Every January new commitments to exercise are made, and are usually forgotten by March. At the other extreme, there are those who over-exercise – to the point of burn-out and fatigue. And, when stressed, they add more exercise, which often aggravates the tension they feel.
